I want my business to give back to the communities I care about. That's why I donate a percentage of my profits to the following organizations:
LGBTQIA+
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I believe that we have made a lot of progress, but can, a must, make more. For every sale of a subtle pride design sold, in any product, I donate 10% of the profits to the Human Rights Campaign.
I have designed the subtle pride collection for those who aren't as lucky as I was. It look a little time for my family to adjust to me coming out as bi, but they accept me fully and love me for who I am. I know this is not always the case. I know that some have to stay in the closet for longer than they'd wish for fear of how they'll be treated by those around them. Some are abandoned. If just one of my designs helps someone to feel seen, and a part of a community, without being outed, then that's all I care about.
For our allies out there - I do also have designs that you can proudly sport that will also show your support of the LGBTQIA+ community. If you are someone who's not able to be their true selves yet - please know that I see you, and I love you. Hang in there. Your community is here for you.
Women's Rights
I have been horrified by the overturning of Roe vs. Wade in 2022. I designed the Pro Choice Plants illustration so that I could take some action. For every sale of a pro choice design sold, in any product, I donate 10% of the profits to the National Network of Abortion Funds.
I believe that every woman has the right to choose. The Pro Choice Plants design is a subtle way to support the cause every day. While it might look like a pretty illustration of some random flowers, I promise you the meaning is deeper.
For centuries, women have found ways to be in control of their bodies. Historically many varieties of plants were used for medicinal purposes. This illustration shows a handful of those documented to “promote menstruation”.
As of 2022, our rights as women have been taken, and it feels as though these medieval techniques are our only resort. That however can be deadly for more reasons than one. I have designed this art to take a stand against the overturn of Roe vs. Wade. When safe resources for abortion are taken away, people with uterus’ will turn to unregulated and potentially unsafe options. I hope that we can correct this injustice in the future, and for now, my shop commits to supporting donating to funds that help find and provide access to abortions nationwide.
