Intersex Pride Flag
Intersex people have a combination of male and female biological traits. They are born with these differences or develop them in childhood. There are many possible differences in genitalia, hormones, internal anatomy, or chromosomes, compared to the usual two ways that human bodies develop.
The intersex flag was unveiled on July 5, 2013 by creator Morgan Carpenter, then co-chair of Organization Intersex International Australia. Carpenter created the flag as a way to have a commonly understood symbol and flag. Purple: Used because it’s seen as a gender neutral color. Yellow: Used because it’s seen as a gender neutral color. Circle: Represents wholeness, completeness and the intersex people’s potentiality.
